The Renewable Energy Authority owns 3 wind stations, the first in Zafarana with a capacity of 550 megawatts, which includes about 700 turbines of different capacities, the second in Jabal al-Zayt 1 with a capacity of 240 megawatts, and includes 120 turbines, and the third in Jabal al-Zayt 2 with a capacity of 220 megawatts, and includes 110 turbines. The New and Renewable Energy Authority had announced its intention to establish a subsidiary of it to maintain and operate wind projects, but decided to cancel the idea, due to the high cost and lack of full experience. An investor who establishes the company himself, owns it completely, and undertakes the maintenance of the authority’s stations through a contract between the two parties for a period of 5 to 10 years, provided that the investor gets a value for operating and maintaining the projects.
